Our 2nd German wine promotion jointly organized with Mochetto food & wine

That evening, old and new acquaintances gathered together despite the threat of Typhoon No. 3. A light rain before the event washed away the oil stains on the streets, but it did not dampen the support and curiosity of the wine lovers for German wines. Everyone walked into the scentless Cloud Street, spending a delightful two hours amidst laughter. Ultimately, this was all because German wines are rare in Hong Kong, and they suit the taste of the local population very well. Given time and proper cooperation, they will one day become the favorite wines of Hong Kong people.

Building on the response received from the first tasting event held on September 2nd, this evening saw over 70% of the guests attending for the first time. Most of them may have never had the opportunity to taste such a variety of German wines in one place. Although the selection provided that evening was relatively narrower compared to the September 2nd event, all the Rieslings shared some common characteristics.

They possessed a unique and delicate gasoline and stone fruit aroma. Initially, there was no overwhelming acidity upon tasting, but rather a sense of elegance that made one exclaim "wow." It felt like a graceful dance of light songs. However, the gentle acidity persisted until the middle, and just before you put down the glass, a hint of floral and apricot sweetness would greet you. It didn't leave any lingering aftertaste in the mouth. The sensation changed every five minutes. One person, possibly from the cultural industry, smiled and said that the wine seemed to have a touch of Xu Zhimo's style when hearing such a description.

The 2003 Auslese selection had a hint of pomegranate sweetness.

The Eiswein was crystal-clear, golden, and transparent, with a rich honey flavor and a touch of lime and a hint of spiciness.

The BA had a strong aroma of citrus, with flavors of apple and honey, and abundant sweetness comparable to other Sauternes.

Although our company had assigned three additional colleagues to assist Mochetto that evening, we still felt that we were short-handed. Fortunately, I had carefully anticipated each step and process in advance, including guest registration, the quantity of tastings, on-site sales, guest questions and responses, etc. If there were any shortcomings in hospitality, please accept our apologies.

What should be the next steps?

Our company will continue to introduce premium wines from other German wine regions besides the Mosel-SAAR-Ruwer area, becoming the local supplier with the widest and most diverse range of German wines.

The next event will be arranged in a more spacious and comfortable venue, and a wine dinner would be a suitable choice. If you have any suggestions, such as feedback on the wines tasted at these two events, German wine recommendations, desired food pairings, preferred restaurants, etc., please contact me or regularly check our company's website.
